As a result of the lockdown, all driving licence testing centres and vehicle testing stations will remain closed. Consequently, vehicle owners and drivers alike won’t be able to apply for any registrations, renewals or extensions.

To cater for this, the Minister of Transport, in the Government Gazette of 30 March No. 43183, extended the licensing and registration periods as follows:

· A learner’s licence, driving licence, motor vehicle licence disk, temporary permit, professional driving permit and road worthy certificate shall remain valid for the lock-down period, and remain valid for a further grace period of 30 days after the lockdown.

· The validity period for the renewal of a motor trade number licence shall remain valid during the lockdown and shall be extended with a further grace period of 6 months after the lockdown.

One less thing that you have to worry about!
