Cancellation and Refund Policy

Van Velden – Duffey Inc. Law Firm

Effective Date: 28 August 2023

At Van Velden – Duffey Inc, we are committed to providing exceptional legal services to our clients. We understand that there might be circumstances where cancellations and refunds are necessary. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for cancellations and refunds related to our legal services.

  1. Consultation and Initial Retainer:

For initial consultations clients are entitled to a full refund if a cancellation request is received at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled consultation. Requests for refunds after this period will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  1. Ongoing Services and Hourly Billing:

For ongoing legal services, clients may cancel our mandate at any time. Any fees for services rendered up to the point of cancellation will remain due and payable, and any credit at hand will be applied towards these fees. Should there be a credit available after all due fees have been debited, such balance will be refunded to the client.

  1. Fixed-Fee Services:

For services offered at a fixed fee, clients may cancel the engagement prior to the commencement of the work. In such cases, a portion of the fixed fee may be retained to cover administrative costs and any work completed up to that point.

  1. Non-Refundable Expenses:

Certain expenses, such as third-party service, and other disbursements, may be non-refundable once incurred on behalf of the client.

  1. Refund Process:

To request a cancellation and refund, clients must submit a written request via hand or email to the relevant attorney assisting them. The request should include the client’s name, matter details, banking details, a copy of the clients ID and proof of banking details.

  1. Refund Determination:

Refund amounts will be determined based on the work completed up to the point of cancellation and any applicable retainer balances. Our firm aims to process refund requests within 21 business days of receiving a refund request.

  1. Policy Changes:

Van Velden – Duffey Inc. reserves the right to amend or update this Cancellation and Refund Policy as needed. Clients will be notified of any changes through our official website or direct communication.
