Frikkie Pretorius was born in Rustenburg and raised on a farm in Marikana. He matriculated at Hoërskool Rustenburg in 1979 after which he pursued his BJuris degree at UNISA.
After obtaining his degree, he commenced his career as a public prosecutor in 1985. At the end of 1986, and after serving as regional court prosecutor in Rustenburg, Frikkie resumed his studies and obtained his LLB degree at the University of North West (Potchefstroom Campus).
Frikkie was appointed as a candidate attorney at Van Velden - Duffey in January 1989 and was admitted as an attorney on 12 February 1991. Shortly thereafter, his hard work and dedication paid off with his appointment as partner of Van Velden – Duffey in March 1991.
At this stage Frikkie is the senior director at Van Velden - Duffey with 30 years’ of service at our firm. Due to his time spent as a prosecutor, Frikkie has extensive experience in criminal law matters. Through the years, he has also obtained experience in civil litigation and family law.
In his free time, Frikkie enjoys farming. This has caused him to be uniquely qualified to assist other farmers with the legal challenges they so often face.
