Alicia joined the Van Velden-Duffey team in January 2021 as a candidate attorney currently serving her articles in our collections department.
Alicia was born and raised in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. After completing her matric as salutatorian of Kuswag High School, Alicia hoped to attend the North-West University of Potchefstroom to study LLB in the following year but, as the law faculty was already full, she proceeded to study a BSc degree in Biochemistry in the alternative. Although Alicia excelled in the science faculty, as is evidenced by her completing her first year in the top three of her year group and being invited to the Golden Key International Honour Society for her academic achievements in Biochemistry, Alicia applied to transfer to the Faculty of Law the following year because of her passion for law.
Alicia completed her LLB degree in 2020 at the North-West University in Potchefstroom. During the course of her LLB studies, Alicia would again be invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society, this time based on her academic achievements in LLB, as well as receive numerous merit awards for completing each year of her studies with a distinction.
As an altruistic person, Alicia enjoys taking part in community development programs and believed that an LLB degree would best complement her endeavours to be a positive contributor to society.
